tips on how to prepare for your treatment(s)

  • GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

    • All clients should wait 2 weeks after COVID-19 vaccine before getting injectables done
    • Please note that cosmetic injections are not recommended for women who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding.
    • Clients will be required to complete all digital intake and health assessment forms prior to your visit.
    • It is recommended to stop taking over-the-counter blood thinners like Advil, aspirin, omega-3’s, vitamin E, and fish oils 1-2 days before your injections to minimize bruising.
    • Avoid alcohol and green tea before your treatment(s) to prevent major bruising.
    • Please come to the clinic with a clean face without any make-up. A bathroom is available should you need to remove it once you arrive.
    • Avoid extreme heat and strenuous exercise on the day of your treatment.
    • We recommend scheduling any treatments at least three to four weeks prior to an important event to allow time for proper healing and for bruising or redness to resolve.
    • Cosmetic and laser treatments are not advised in pregnant and breast feeding women.
  • NEUROMODULATOR INJECTIONS Botox & Dysport After Care

After Your Botox or Dysport Treatment

    • Remain upright for 4 hours after injection (you may lie in a reclined position, just do not lay flat)
    • Exaggerate facial expressions in injected areas for 1 hour after injection
    • Do not wear a headband or hat where the band goes across your forehead if you have had injections between the brows or in the forehead
    • Refrain from aerobic exercise that increases your heart rate greatly (running, swimming, bicycling, etc…) for 24 hours following injections. Walking or other low impact forms of exercise are fine Do not massage or manipulate injected areas for 24 hours after injections. Washing your face and applying make-up is fine. Please avoid using a Clarisonic facial cleanser, have a facial, put your face in a massage cradle, or be face down in a chiropractor’s chair for 24 hours following the injection.
    • Refrain from using ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil supplements, or vitamin E for 24 hours following injection
    • If bruising appears, apply ice to area for 15 minutes every hour to decrease bruising
    • The most common side effect is headache with Botox injections. You may use Tylenol to relieve this. If you are a chronic headache sufferer and have prescription headache medication, you may take it as prescribed by your doctor.
    • Botox will gradually take effect over 7-10 days with optimum result at 2 weeks. If this is your first Botox injection, we recommend scheduling a follow up appointment 2 weeks after your injection.
    • Please inform the clinic If you have any concerns by emailing info@soniavilos.com we will respond in under 12 hours.
  • DERMAL FILLER AFTER CARE

    After your Dermal Filler Appointment

    • Immediately after your treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness, and an itching sensation in the treated area.
    • This is a normal result of the injection. The inconvenience is temporary and generally disappears in a day or two. If the inconvenience continues or if other reactions occur, please contact our office at info@soniavilos.com, we will respond In less that 12 hours.
    • The initial swelling after treatments may last longer than two days. Some patients experience swelling for about a week and the injected area can look somewhat uneven during this time. This means that the result directly after the treatment should not be seen as the final result. It may take 2-4 weeks to even out.
    • After 3-6 weeks, we may want to re-evaluate the need for additional treatment. Vertical lip lines will not go away completely, but they will soften in appearance.
    • After any treatment with fillers, you may FEEL lumpy and/or bumpy for a few weeks or even months afterwards. This is normal. The key is not to SEE the lumps.
    • Avoid touching the treated area for 3-4 hours following the injection. After that, light make-up can be applied and the area can be gently washed with soap and water.
    • Until the initial swelling and redness have resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (i.e., sunbathing or tanning bed) or extreme cold.
    • If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores. Antivirals can be taken to reduce the severity of cold sore outbreaks.
    • If you are using aspirin or any similar medication, be aware that these may increase the bruising and bleeding at the injection site. You may take Tylenol for discomfort.
    • Please avoid alcohol and exercise for 12 hours following the injection and be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
    • You may gently apply the ice pack provided to you to the treated area for 10 minutes an hour for the first 3 hours following the injection. Apply lightly, do not use too much pressure. The ‘shiney’ side of the ice pack feels best.
    • Finally, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers gradually dissolves. The correction does not last forever. Many people choose to be treated again within 4-6 months of the original treatment.
    • If taking Arnica, continue for two more days, applying Arnica cream every 2 hours.
    • After 3 hours when Lidocaine wears off, if you feel any excessive heat or burning in or close to the injected areas, please call Sonia or Andrea Immediately.
